Yevan David back at the top in Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring

Yevan David found again the path to victory. The Sri Lankan driver of Motopark won a lively Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring this morning, re-launching his title bid. “The last rounds were not easy but we kept our heads up and worked to be again fighting at the top. I enjoyed this race very much.”

David beat by over 5 seconds his direct rivals, with his teammate and yesterday’s winner Michael Shin finishing second, championship leader Tymek Kucharczyk (BVM Racing) third and joss Garfias (Motopark) fourth .

Yevan David made a perfect use of the pole position in the reversed grid to take the lead from the lights. He was briefly challenged by Kucharczyk and Everett Stack (Motopark) in the first lap, but then pulled away. Stack was one of the heroes of this race. The young American resisted well all attacks to steal second from him, also after the brief safety car period in lap 4 necessary after the contact between the cars of Ricardo Baptsita (Nilen Racing) and Luca Viisoreanu (Motopark), first from Kucharczyk and then from Shin, when the Korean, who strongly charged from sixth in the grid, became third after passing Kucharczyk.

Stack lost second to Shin only in lap 12 and unfortunately, a 5-second penalty for track limits, deprived him of a podium finish. He crossed the line in eighth. Shin and Kucharczyk battled for second, but things did not change. Garfias took fourth ahead of de la Torre and Pearson, with Famularo seventh.
