Late summer weather welcomed the Euroformula Open at Hockenheim for the traditional two free practice sessions of the Friday, which went on with no hiccups whatsoever, and with all drivers progressing well through the sessions and posting their best lap times in the afternoon.
Championship leader Rui-heng Yeh stood up to his status and was the fastest in the combined rankings, with a time of 1.32.810. The Taiwanese of Motopark narrowly beat Wiktor Dobrzanski, with the Pole conceding only 0s024 seconds.
Third fastest and first among the BVM Racing drivers was Javier Castillo (+0s174), who had posted the best time in the morning session (1.33.189). He precedes his country-fellow Jesse Carrasquedo (Motopark, 0s330).
Maya Weung, in her return to single-seaters, spent the session re-adjusting and familiarizing herself with the Dallara 324 of BVM Racing that she is driving for the first time. She was ninth and only 1s070 off the top.
Three drivers (Stack, Ferrazzano and Naran) did not show up at this round, for different reasons.
