One could see it coming : Javier Herrera’s progress since the beginning of the season has been impressive, and materialized in this morning’s qualifying session at Misano. The Mexican, the youngest driver of the field (he is not yet 17) took pole position in authoritative way at the wheel of one of the Tom’s-powered Dallaras 324 of BVM Racing, who is racing on home soil, few kms from its base in Ravenna.
Determined as always, the Monterrey driver didn’t lose composure after the achievement: “Finally, all the hard work done with the team is being rewarded. I could align everything and make a very good lap. Now we have to prepare the races well.”
In perfect conditions, Herrera posted a time of 1.26.761, beating by 0s347 championship leader Riu-heng Yeh and his country fellow Diego de la Torre (+0s646). A third Motopark driver, Everett Stack (+0s672) completed the top four.
In third row will be BVM’s Allesandro Famularo (+0s685) and Motopark’s Jesse Carrasquedo (+0s733).
