Stack (Motopark) breaks the ice at the Hungaroring

Everett Stack authoritatively took a much-awaited first win of the season today in Race 1 at the Hungaroring. The American driver of Motopark had a very clean race, taking the lead at the start and cruising up to the flag. He was clearly happy on the podium and strengthens his second position in the standings: “At last! After winning a few races last year, I had a complicated start of the season, but today, everything went well. I took the lead at the start and after that, I saw nobody around me.”

Championship Rui-heng Yeh finished second ahead of an emotional Alessandro Famularo, third in the first-classified car of BVM Racing. The Venezuelan driver has been logically very touched by the terrible earthquake that has stricken his homeland. Earlier in the day he led the minute of silence held at the Hungaroring in solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

Poleman Javier Herrera (BVM) finished only fourth after dropping two positions because of a 5 –second penalty for an incident with Yeh.


THE RACE - Herrera has not the best of starts from the pole, emerginig third from turn one behind the leader, Stack, and Yeh, with Nandan and Famulari right behind. Koller is in the gravel at turn é but rejoins. In the initial laps, there is close fight for second, with Herrera passing Yeh in a controversial maneuver that will later cost him a 5-second penalty, while Dobrzanski passes Carrasquedo for eighth.

In lap 10, Stack leads with a 4-second gaps on Herrera, 5 on Yeh, 7 on Famularo, then De la Torre, Carrasquedo, Castillo, Dobrzanski, Nandan who has dropped a few positions, Hahn, Ferrazzano and Koller.

 Th Hungaroring being the Hungaroring, the positions will not change much, with Stack winning with a 6-second advantage on Yeh and Famularo, while Herrera is fourth after the penalty, preceeding a trio of country-fellows: De la Torre, Carrasquedo and Castillo.
