Shin (Motopark) wins Race 2 and takes provisional lead

Michael Shin (Team Motopark) won Race 2 at the Hungaroring, in a morning with milder weather, after a great start, beating Edward Pearson (Nielsen Racing) and teammate Yevan David.

The Korean was sitting in third in the reversed grid, behind Pearson and de la Torre and alongside Everett Stack. Pearson and de la Torre had a good kick-off but went completely wide and off-track at first track, with Shin using the opportunity to steal second. He kept putting pressure on Pearson and passed the Brit in lap 4, pulling away up to the chequered flag and crossing the line with an 11-second advantage. “The cooler weather made managing the tyres in the initial laps more complicated, but once they warmed up, the pace was very good”, said Shin.

Garfias was third in lap 1, with de la Torre dropping positions, and David and Kucharczyk putting on a nice duel for fifth which animated most of the race. Eventually, the Sri Lankan kept the position to climb to third on the podium. Kucharczyk and Garfias completed the top five.

With this second win of the season, Shin takes the provisional lead in the standings, with 183 points ahead of David (182) and Kucharczyk (168).
