Alessandro Famularo took his second win of the season in a very lively Race 2 at the Hockenheimring. The Venezuelan driver of BVM Racing showed great assertiveness in the opening lap, taking the lead and defending it until the end. “It was a good race and a good fight”, he commented afterwards. “This win is for Venezuela and for all those who are still suffering from the consequences of the recent earthquake.”
Jesse Carrasquedo repeated yesterday’s second ahead of his teammate at Motopark and standings leader Rui-heng Yeh.
Lorenzo Castillo and Jan Koller were sitting in first row on the reversed grid, and fought for the lead at first corner, with the Mexican keeping the advantage. Both were though passed by Famularo, who was sitting in row 2, during the first lap, thanks to two perfect overtakes. Castillo and Koller continued their personal fight which ended in a collision and with both out of the track in lap 2.
The incident prompted the intervention of the safety car. At the restart, in lap 5, Famularo kept lead ahead of De la Torre, Carrasquedo , Yeh and Dobrzanski. Two laps later, Carrasquedo took second from de la Torre, who started to be threatened by Yeh, while Herrera passed Dobrzanski for fifth.
Close racing and duelling continued up to the finish, with De la Torre having to let Yeh and Herrera past.
