Misano, a new venue to test the Euroformula and Yeh's leadership

Misano, a new venue to test the Euroformula and Yeh's leadership

The 2026 Euroformula Open is preparing for one of its high moments of the season: next weekend, it will race for the first time at Misano. A new venue is always a special moment and something that spices up the calendar of a series. The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, built in 1972 very close to the beaches of the Adriatic Sea and updated a number of times since then, is known mainly as a motorbike track. Still, its 4,064-km very technical layout makes a very interesting testing ground for the abilities of young single-seater drivers. Misano will become the 22nd venue visited by the Euroformula Open since 2009 and the fourth in Italy, after Monza, Imola and Mugello.

The novelty will be an additional factor to take into account for drivers and teams, as it implies less data to start from, and unforeseen factors like wind and sand, typical of any track close to the seaside. It will be interesting to see if all that will have an impact on the physiognomy of the championship, which has been quite clear so far after the six races held in Portimão and Spa-Francorchamps.

Rui-heng ‘Enzo’ Yeh is definitely the man at the helm of the ship, and of the standings. The Taiwanese of Team Motopark has shown great maturity, clinching five wins and two pole positions, an impressive record that means a solid 49-point lead.

His most direct opponent is teammate Diego de la Torre, who has scored four podium finishes and aims to materialize his steady progress by taking a maiden EFO success as soon as possible. Third in contention is the top driver of BVM Racing, Venezuela’s Alessandro Famularo, the only driver other than Yeh to have won a race so far.

Currently fourth in the standings is US racer Everett Stack, also with Motopark, who is progressively reaching his cruising speed in what is his second seson in the series. In fifth lies another BVM driver, the youngest on the grid, Javier Herrera. The 16-year-old Mexican is growing fast and has claimed his first podium finish at Spa. He is also leading the standings in the Rookies’ Trophy, which this year offers an interesting battle within the competition, with two wins so far.

Also in contention for top positions in the Rookies’ Trophy are two other Motopark drivers, Javier Castillo and Wiktor Dobrzański, with the Mexican having taken one win and the Pole two.

Completing the ranks of the German squad are a third Mexican driver, Jesse Carrasquedo, and Czechia’s Jan Koller, who are both raising their game.

On its side, BVM Racing, for which this will really be a home race as its base is in nearby Ravenna, fields Indian Divy Nandan, the surprise of the Algarve round, and a new entry, Ricardo Miranda Baptista. Nick-named ‘Cadi’, the 18-year-old son of a famous Brazilian GT driver, had already had a one-off appearance in the Euroformula last year at the Red Bull Ring. Aaron Ferrazzano, on his side, will continue the constant growth shown by him and Neri Autosport. The Belgian is currently fourth in the Rookies’ Trophy.
