Youth took power today in Race 1 at the Misano World Circuit, as Javier Herrara, the youngest driver in the series (he will turn 17 in November) took an authoritative maiden Eufroformula win at the wheel of the Tom’s-powered Dallara of BVM Racing. It was a perfect start of the weekend for the Italian squad on their very home track, close to their base in Ravenna.
Herrera started building his success in the morning, taking his maiden pole position. The Monterrey-born then executed perfectly in the race, leading from lights to flag, and materializing the steady progression made since the start of the season. Despite his young age, Herrera shows impressive determination and racing spirit. In his words after crossing the line there was a lot of satisfaction, logically, but no triumphalism at all: “Everything rolled out as I imagined it could do after the pole. We have worked a lot, physically, mentally and technically, and I am super happy of this first win. It was tough and hot today, but everything worked according to the ideal plan.”
Championship leader Rui-heng Yeh (Motopark) finished second, racing in that position all race, while Alessandro Famularo signed a 1-3 for BVM, after gaining one position during the race.
THE RACE - At the start, Herrera keeps the advantage over Yeh, Stack, Famularo and Carrasquedo while De la Torre remains stuck on the grid, as does Koller. Luckily, both are avoided by all contenders. Herrera pulls away building steadily a two-second gap by mid-race, with the top five remaining stable and covered by 8 seconds up to lap 9, when Famularo passes Stack for third.

After Nandan was sixth in the opening laps, it is Baptista running in sixth and the lead of the second group, right ahead of Dobrzanski. The two will have an intense duel, finally won by the Pole, with the Brazilian having to let Castillo past too. Nandan is ninth ahead of Ferrazzano, then De la Torre and Koller, both unable to make up the time lost at the start.
