The Euroformula Open resumed action after the summer break with a productive day of free practice today at the Red Bull Ring. The weather was cooler today than in the previous days, setting perfect track conditions.
The two best lap times were posted in the morning session, with Tymek Kucharczyk (BVM Racing) stopping the clock in 1.24.188. The championship leader beat Joss Garfias 5Motopark) by a mere 0s189. The Pole would also top the second session in the afternoon (1.24.415).
In the combined ranking of the two sessions, Diego de la Torre (Motopark) was third-fastest (+0s440) ahead of teammate Everett Stack (+0s661), both with times posted in the second session.
Among other title contenders, Michael Shin (Motopark, +0s733) was fifth and Yevan David (Motopark, +1s019) seventh, with Ed Pearson (Nielsen Motorsport, +0s753) in between.
Romania’s Luca Viisoreanu (Motopark) was the fastest of the four new entries at the Red Bull Ring, 1s060 behind the top, after a great progression throughout the day, beating Alessandro Famularo (BVM Racing) and Nielsen’s Francisco Soldavini and Ricardo ‘Cadi’ Baptista.
