Kucharczyk (BVM Racing) finishes the job at Ricard’s Race 1

Tymek Kucharczyk materialized the advantage of the pole to take an authoritarian win in Race 1 at the Paul Ricard, the fourth this season for the BVM Racing driver. “We managed a perfect execution after the good work done in the sessions”, said Kucharczyk, who had to battle only a few corners with Yevan David. The Sri Lankan finished second, with Joss Garfias (Motopark) third and collecting another podium finish.

It was a bad day for Michael Shin, slowed since the beginning of the weekend by a lack of pace. In the race he was hit by Edward Pearson (Nielsen Racing). The Korean of Motopark has lost the championship lead to David, now first with 212 points, with a 14-point gap on Shin and 18 on Garrfias.

THE RACE - In pole for the fourth time this season, Tymek Kucharcyk pull-off perfectly but has to fight in the first corners to keep David at bay. Garfias steals third from Barrichello, with de la Torre passing Lambert for fifth. Trappa has stalled on the rid but rejoins.

In the lead, Kucharczyk manages to build a small gap, while in lap 2, de la Torre is wide in one of the corners but does not lose positions. One lap lap later, occurs a major incidente when Pearson tries to overtake Shin on the inside for seventh. The collision at high speed is inevitable and both cars hav to retire, while the safety car is deployed for three laps.

After the restart, things remain stable, and the second half of the race will see no major changes, but a beautiful duel for third between Mexicans. Garfias will retain the podium finish ahead of teammate de la Torre, while Barrichello finishes fifth ahead of a combative Lambert.
