This morning’s qualifying session at the Hungaroring, held in perfect weather and track conditions, confirmed what was seen in free practice yesterday: Javier Herrera took the pole, his second of the season, stopping the clock in 1.34.793. BVM Racing confirmed the good form, with Alessandro Famularo taking third, 0s172 behind his teammate.
In between the two, Everett Stack secured second and a spot in first row for Race 1, 0s160 behind Herrera, also being the fastest among the Team Motopark drivers. Championship leader Rui-heng Yeh was fourth, 0s172 behind.
In row 3, will sit a duo of Mexican drivers, Diego de la Torre (+0s727) and Jesse Carrasquedo (0s424).
“I am very happy with the performance”, said Herrera after the pole, “as it is my first time on this track, which is very technical, and conditions were not optimal: the track is very dirty, with the wind bringing a lot of dust. But we worked well, and despite not having a perfect lap, we could be at the top. We’ll see how it’ll go this afternoon, knowing how difficult it is to overtake here.”
