Garfias (Motopark) takes in style his second win of the season

The warm weekend at the Hungaroring ended with a third different race winner: José Garfias dominated Race 3 to take his second success of the season. The personable Mexican driver of Team Motopark showed great effectiveness despite a not easy weekend: “We didn’t have an easy start of the weekend but we kept working hard and could improve our pace throughout the sessions. It’s nice to finish at the very top!”

Garfias beat local hero Benjamin Berta (BVM Racing), who also put an excellent performance in the final race, and Michael Shin (Motopark), who leaves Hungary as the new points leader.

The race saw the Mexican take an excellent start. ‘Joss’ was sitting fourth in the inverted grid, behind Berta, de la Torre and Stack, and stole the lead at first corner. Berta tried to challenge him in the initial phases, but then had to desist focusing in keep Shin behind, which he did. The Korean was challenged by Kucharczyk in the opening laps, but the beautiful duel ended with a contact in lap 8, which allowed David to pass. The Pole’s car sustained some damage, and he dropped to last place. David, who had a hairy moment with Pearson at the start, finished fourth ahead of Stack, de la Torre, Barrichello and the Brit.

In the championship, Shin leaves Hungary as the new leader, with 198 points ahead of David (194) and Kucharczyk (168).
