The 2026 Euroformula Open is heading South for its traditional round ahead of the summer break at the Circuit Paul Ricard on the hills overlooking the coast of the Var department. Being in a holiday spot in high season, the good weather at this period of the year, and the crowds of holiday-makers visiting the track and coming to the traditional Summer Rooftop party on Saturday, always give a flavour of summer delights to this event, although teams are driver are not there to relax.
What really makes the Ricard round special is the challenges posed by the fast 5.842-km track, the high temperatures and the fact that it is the round opening the second half of the season, with business becoming serious in terms of battle for the title.
Concerning that, things are far from defined, with a championship leader that had a very strong start of the season but is now challenged by many contenders having raised their game, with no less than six different race winners so far.
Rui-heng Yeh is the man leading the standings by 74 points. The Taiwanese of Team Motopark, reconnected with the win (his sixth so far) in Race 3 at the Hungaroring, proving he is still in a very competitive form. His most direct rivals are three of his teammates. Diego de la Torre and Everett Stack are 74 and 82 points behind, respectively, and both the Mexican and the American have opened their win count at the last round. The leading quartet of Motopark is completed by Jesse Carrasquedo, strong of his two successes at Misano.
The race winners’ club and the top six of the standings also include the two most prominent racers of BVM Racing: Javier Herrera, the very young gun from Mexico, has proven his speed and fighting spirit with 2 pole positions and one win, and Venezuela’s Alessandro Famularo is always a candidate for victory.

Behind the top sextet, there is plenty of young talent ready to reveal its full potential. At Motopark, Poland’s Wiktor Dobrzanski has been very consistent and is a close second to Herrera in the Rookies’ Trophy, while Czechia’s Jan Koller and Mexico’s Lorenzo Castillo are progressing fast.
BVM Racing enters two other cars, for championship regular Divy Nandan from India, who has already put on some impressive outings, and Brazil’s Alceu Feldmann, in his second outing after Spa.
Neri Autosport will be racing on home soil, with its Belgian driver Aaron Ferrazzano, and the package intends to continue showing its steady progress and improve the top five results already reached.
The Ricard round will also mark the second outing of the season for Drivex. The Spanish squad is back with the same drivers seen at Spa, Argentina’s Gino Trappa, who took a podium finish, and Brazil’s Filippo Fiorentino.
