Enzo Yeh took his third win of the year, strengthening his leadership in the championship. The Taipei-born driver of Team Motopark lived what was, in his words, “a perfect Saturday”, which started with taking pole position in the morning. “We struggled a bit with set-up in the changing conditions”, he said, “but we worked hard and things aligned well today. In the race, it was important to keep first position and manage a sufficient gap.”
That’s exactly what happened, and Yeh was helped by the intense fight that developed behind him. Eventually, it was Diego de la Torre (Motopark) finishing second, with another Mexican, BVM Racing’s Javier Herrera finishing third and taking his first podium.
Still, before that result materialized, much did happen. Jesse Carrasquedo (Motopark), who was sitting next to Yeh in the first row, kept second position, while an excellent start put Herrera in third at the Kemmel straight, followed by Stack, Koller, and de la Torre, while Feldmann stalled on the grid.
The initial laps saw Herrera having trouble keeping third; a couple of small mistakes allowed de la Torre, Stack, and Koller to pass him, while later on, another interesting fight developed for seventh place between Fiorentino, Trappa, and Famularo.
In lap 7, Koller went into the gravel at the chicane, which forced the intervention of the safety car. In the last three laps of racing, the battle for second was heated, but a contact between Carrasquedo and Stack ended with a puncture for the Mexican, and De la Torre and Herrera passed both. Eventually, Stack finished fourth ahead of Trappa, who had passed his Drivex teammate Trappa. Carrasquedo dropped to 13th, while local hero Ferrazzano could salvage a good ninth under the flag.
