Typical Spa weather welcomed the Euroformula Open at Spa-Francorchamps: overcast skies, light rain and sunshine alternated throughout the day of free practice, with cold, wintery temperatures being denominator.
FP1 in the morning took place on quite humid track, after some early storms. In these conditions, Diego de la Torre (Motopark) posted the best lap time (2.25.130) ahead of teammates Enzo Yeh (+1s227) and Everett Stack (+1s538), while Alessandro Famularo was fourth and the best among the BVM Racing delegation (+1s565).
The situation was completely different in the afternoon, with FP2 on a dry track. The newcomers made a splash, with the two drivers of Drivex, the Spanish team making its return to the series at this occasion, at the top: Brazil’s Filippo Fiorentino stopped the clock in 2.10.819, a mere 0s099 ahead of Argentina’s Genaro Trappa, with a surprising Javier Herrera (BVM Racing, +0s128) a close third. The third new drivered entered in this event, Alceu Femdmann (BVM Racing) was third (+0s613). They were followed by two of the Motopark Mexicans, Jesse Carrasquedo and Diego de la Torre, who completed and all-South American top six.
It was a day of intense working for local hero Aaron Ferrazzano (Neri AutoSport), who struggled a bit with the set-up but is eager to shine in front of his friends and fans.
