The rain was the main protagonist of Race 3 at Hockenheim. The unexpected gues appeaed for the closing of the weekend on the German track, yielding an intense wet race. In those difficult conditions, Diego De la Torre kept his temper to conquer his second win of the season. The Mexican of Motopark was sitting on pole in the reversed grid and took the lead since the lights. He was clearly happy after the race: “It wasn’t easy. To be leading a race like this may give you some advantage in visibility, although little, but on the contrary, you have no references as nobody is in front. It’s odd that after a season with so many ups and downs, my best race and second win comes in such a race.”
Motopark’s Wiktor Dobrzanski and Rui-heng Yeh came second and third. The Pole put a very solid race, fending off the attacks of Yeh at the beginning and then kept reducing the gap with De la Torre. Yeh, on his side, was happy collecting more points to strengthen his lead in the standings, with now De la Torre in second, 85 points behind.
The race was declared wet, with rain tyres mandatory, and started behind the safety car. Two of the BVM cars (Famularo’s and Herrera’s), though, were on slick on the grid. They pitted when the safety car was still deployed and left the pit lane when the red light was still on, which caused them to be black-flagged.
Carrasquedo finished fourth ahead of Weug, Castillo and Koller, who dropped to seventh after running fourth in the opening laps.
