Yevan David (Motopark) took his second pole position of the season in Barcelona with a perfect last-minute attempt. The Sri Lankan posted a time of 1.31.990 in perfect track and weather conditions and was clearly satisfied: “We knew we had it in the bag and we start the weekend in the best way. I’m confident ahead of the races. We come from some ups and downs, it is normal to have them on the course of a season, but the positive is that the team was able to react perfectly.”
Championship leader Tymel Kucharczyk (BVM Racing) was beaten by a narrow 0s023, after leading up to David’s final reaction.
Second row will be all-Mexican, with Motopark’s Diego de la Torre (+0s234) and Joss Garfias (+0s245). In third, Everett Stack (+0s255) and the first of the Nielsen Racing representatives, rookie Theo Micouris (+0s295). Championship contender Michael Shin (Motopark) was only ninth.
