Championship leader Kucharczyk ahead of his direct opponents in free practice

Action has started in Monza ahead of the final round of the season that will decide the Eurformula Open title. Contenders found sunny conditions in today’s free practice after a Thursday of private testing under overcast skies.

The results of today’s two sessions of free practice perfectly reflected the championship’s situation, with the top three drivers in the standings, in the same order, heading the combined ranking of the day.

Championship leader Tymek Kucharczyk (BVM Racing) was the fastest man on track, posting a time of 1.42.222 in the afternoon after being the fastest also in the morning session, stopping the clock in another round time, 1.42.666.

The Pole is confident as he defends his 225-point lead and seems not to suffer the pressure of the moment, despite the presence of a large delegation of Polish media and TVs, which includes … a bear, the ambassador of one of his sponsors.

Second in the standings, Michael Shin reduced significantly the gap in session 2 to finish second-fastest only 0s061 behind Kucharczyk, followed by his teammate at Motopark Yevan David, 0s315 from the top.

Everett Stack was fourth (-0s489) ahead of José Garfias (-0s500) and Alessandro Famularo (BVM Racing, -0s862), the fastest among younger drivers.
