It was a typical Monza qualifying session, with a lot of last-minute action and a lot of towing. Eventually, it was Jesse Carrasquedo taking pole position, with a time of 1.41.836, posted in the closing moments. The Mexican of Motopark beat his teammates Diego de la Torre (+0s023) and Rui-heng Yeh (+0s032), who both held P1 in the last five minutes of the session but could not improve in their last attempt.
“It was a good session, the car was perfect, and we planned well the towing strategy in the team”, said Carrasquedo , “but pole here doesn’t mean much. Races at Monza can be so eventful…”
Behind the Motopark trio, local hero Nicolò Maccagnani, in his EFO debut with BVM Racing, was fourth (+0s193) ahead of his teammates Alessandro Famularo (+0s207) and Javier Herrera (+0s330), with close gaps promising great racing this weekend.
The only fact worth noting was the gearbox failure in Aaron Ferrazzano’s car, with the Belgian of Neri Autosport qualifying last.
