He was the last to join the 2026 EFO grid and he is the one at the top of the first ranking sheet: Mexico’s Jesse Carrasquedo, the latest addition to Team Motopark, has been the fastest driver on track in the Friday’s free practice of the season-opener at the Autódromo do Algarve.
In almost summer conditions, the Mexican topped both the morning and the afternoon session, posting a best lap of 1.35.779 in session 1, which actually was the fastest session for all drivers, given the raise of temperatures in the afternoon.
Carrasqudo beat BVM Racing’s Alessandro Famularo by 0s375. Close to the leading duo were also three other Motopark drivers, Diego de la Torre (+0s435), Wiktor Dobrzanski and Enzo Yeh, who posted the same time, 0s450 away from the top. The Pole did so despite not feeling too well because of a flu.
Rookies Jan Koller and Javier Herrera followed, then Everett Stack, Lorenzo Castillo, Divy Castillo and Aaron Ferrazzano in the car of the debuting Neri Autosport. The French squad and the Belgian driver did great progress through the sessions (started on Thursday with the two sessions of private tests) and ended 1.267 seconds off in the combined free practice, although the gap was reduced to 0s730 in session 2.
