The Euroformula Open started the official part of the fourth round of the season at the Hungaroring with today’s two free practice sessions, after having had the opportunity of two private test sessions yesterday. On a sunny, mild and breezy day, drivers found perfect track conditions.
The fastest man on track was Javier Herrera, the young Mexican sensation of BVM Racing, which posted a time of 1.35.192 in the morning, beating his teammate Alessandro Famularo by a small margin (+0s169). The Venezuelan sports on its car a special livery in support of his country, stricken by a tragic earthquake last week.
Third fastest and first among the Motopark drivers was Poland’s Wiktor Dobrzanski, 1s307 behind, with a time (1.36.499) which was top of the rankings in session 2.
Mexico’s Jesse Carrasquedo was fourth-fastest (+1s336) ahead of Celo Hahn, the youngest member of the Brazilian racing dynasty, who is making his EFO debut here with BVM (+1s434), and US racer Everett Stack (+1s592).
It was a more challenging day for the two first in the championship standings, as Rui-heng Yeh (+1s592) and Diego de la Torre (+1s808) were only seventh- and ninth-fastest.
