Ary Bansal fastest in his Euroformula Open debut at Barcelona

Ary Bansal is making his Euroformula Open debut at Barcelona, fielded by BVM Racing. The 16-year-old Indian driver lost no time and proved the fastest driver on track in today’s private test day on the Catalan track. He topped the second and third of the three sessions held, stopping the clock in 1.32.446 in what was the best lap time of the day.

Born in Chandigarh and raised in Bangalore, Bansal is the latest sensation and one of the greatest hopes of Indian motor racing. In 2025, Bansal secured the GB4 Championship title with Elite Motorsport and won the British F4 Championship’s Challenge Cup with Fortec Motorsport. He also finished inside the top five at the FIA F4 World Cup in Macau, capping off a successful debut season of international competition.

In 2026, Bansal continued to build on his strong results, securing two victories and six podiums in the Italian F4 Championship with US Racing. He currently sits third in the Italian F4 standings, ahead of the final round in Mugello. His EFO appearance with BVM Racing presents an opportunity to taste more powerful machinery and broaden his international racing experience. Bansal will compete again in the prestigious Macau GP later this year.

Speaking after his first day with the Dallara 324, Bansal said: “The car is great to drive and the best one I’ve tested in this ladder of the formulae pyramid. Being lighter, it is very pleasant to drive, and you more power and higher downforce is a very nice feeling. I’m adapting quickly and working well with BVM Racing, a new team for me. The objective for the weekend is the available track time and put together a competitive weekend in Barcelona.”
